In this article I will tell you some of the most interesting things to see and do in Medellín. Let me introduce you to this wonderful city, my favorite in Colombia and one of my favorites in Latin America.

First contact

There is nothing better than getting to know the city, its culture and the way of being of its people than with a tour with us. A local guide will discover the curiosities of the most emblematic points of the historic center. You will visit places such as the Antioquia railway station, the Plaza de las Luces, the old Plaza de Cisneros, the Berrío Park, the Palace of Culture, the National Palace, and the imposing Metropolitan Cathedral to finish in the Botero Square.

Botero Square

If you have done a free tour, you will end up in this square dedicated to this great Colombian artist Fernando Botero, a native of Medellín, whose statues are all over the world and, of course, in his hometown. Visiting Plaza Botero is one of the essential things to do in Medellín. In the heart of the city, you will find 23 works by the artist scattered here and there in a space of more than 7,000 square meters. You can sit and contemplate them also surrounded by garden areas.

Come to Medellín in August to enjoy the most important festival in Medellín: La Fiesta de las Flores. The party is organized around the Silleteros Parade. The silleteros parade carrying heavy flower silletas on their backs. As you can imagine, the holiday is very colorful with so many flowers. Arvi Park

One of the most interesting parks to see in Medellín is this Ecotourism Park on the outskirts of the city. It can be reached in several ways, but the most interesting is through the Metrocable. In this case, it is four and a half kilometers between the Santo Domingo Savio station and the park itself. With the metrocable you will fly over depressed communes and forest areas until you reach the park. It is one of the coolest experiences that I have in Medellín.

Pueblito Paisa

In Cerro de Nutibara, south of Plaza Botero and on the west bank of the Medellín River, there is a small space that recreates the square of a typical Antioquia town or “paisa”. You can also visit the City Museum, a sculpture park, and there are restaurants, bars and shops where you can buy typical crafts and a circus in the lower area. For locals and visitors, the upper area offers the best views of Medellín.

Let's go to the botanical garden

Another wonder to see in Medellín is this great Garden located right next to the Explora Park. It has several different areas. Among the most important are: a tropical forest, the Garden of Palms, a butterfly farm, several lagoons, a children’s maze, a medicinal garden and the famous Orquideorama Gardens. This exhibition of orchids and other flowers is located in a very original architectural space with large towers made with plants and artificial materials. Best of all, your visit is free.

Pablo Escobar Tour

You are not wrong. He was the largest drug lord in the world and head of the Medellín Cartel, and has his own museum, a theme park, and an organized route around the city.
